Who we are
GroomBoost is an SMS-based review and rebooking tool built for dog grooming businesses. GroomBoost is operated by Zak Kann, LLC. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights regarding that data.
If you have questions or want to exercise your data rights, contact us at privacy@groomboost.com.
Data controller vs. processor
When a groomer uses GroomBoost, the groomer is the data controller — they decide what client data to upload and how to use the service. GroomBoost acts as a data processor, handling that data on the groomer's behalf and only as needed to provide the service. For data we collect directly from groomers (account info, billing), we are the data controller.
What data we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Business owner information: your name, email address, phone number, and business name.
- Client information: names and phone numbers of your grooming clients, as provided by you.
- Pet information: pet names and breeds associated with each client.
- Visit history: dates and details of grooming appointments you log through GroomBoost.
- Survey responses: satisfaction ratings and feedback your clients provide through our SMS surveys.
- SMS logs: records of text messages sent and received through the platform, including timestamps and delivery status.
- Pricing data: service pricing information you enter for competitive analysis.
How we use your data
We use the data we collect to:
- Send automated review requests to your clients after grooming visits.
- Send breed-specific rebooking reminders to lapsed clients on your behalf.
- Provide pricing analysis so you can compare your rates to other groomers in your area.
- Operate, maintain, and improve the GroomBoost service.
- Communicate with you about your account, billing, and product updates.
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with the following service providers (sub-processors), solely to operate GroomBoost:
- Twilio: delivers SMS messages to your clients on your behalf. Twilio receives client phone numbers and message content.
- Stripe:processes your subscription payments. Stripe receives your billing information but not your clients' data.
- Railway: provides hosting and database infrastructure where your data is stored and the application runs.
- Inngest: handles background job processing such as scheduling and sending messages.
- Google: we generate links to your Google Business Profile so clients can leave reviews. Google receives no data from us directly — clients interact with Google on their own.
We may also disclose data if required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or court order.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your account, we will delete your data within 30 days of your request. You can request deletion at any time by emailing us at the address below.
Your rights under CCPA/CPRA
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:
- Right to know: you can request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to delete: you can request that we delete your personal information.
- Right to correct: you can request that we correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you, and we will use commercially reasonable efforts to do so.
- Right to opt out of sale: we do not sell personal information.
- Right to non-discrimination: we will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@groomboost.com. We will respond within 45 days, with a possible 45-day extension with notice if reasonably necessary.
SMS disclosures
GroomBoost sends text messages to your clients on your behalf. Here is what your clients should know:
- How consent is obtained:groomers provide their clients' phone numbers to GroomBoost. Clients opt in to receive messages through a web form, verbal confirmation to their groomer, or by providing their phone number at the time of booking. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any grooming service.
- Message frequency varies based on visit history. Clients typically receive one review request per visit and periodic rebooking reminders (approximately 1-4 messages per month).
- Message and data rates may apply depending on the client's mobile carrier and plan.
- Clients can opt out of messages at any time by replying STOP to any GroomBoost text. They can resume by replying START.
- Clients can text HELP for assistance, or contact their groomer directly.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
